ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

To my friends Carmen Martínez, Pedro Ortiz, María Ángeles Galindo and Irene Sotos, who, at school, have put this story into practice year after year with so much enthusiasm and have managed to put up with me so well.

Thank you, thank you and thank you.

FOREWORD

I am a teacher, from Orihuela, and I have been working for more than 30 years in Early Childhood Education. The Team of CEIP Fernando de Loaces in Orihuela has always looked for topics meaningful to our children. We consider that three of them should become permanent: the palm grove; Miguel Hernández, our great poet, and the city of Orihuela, our town.

This is where my work project begins. A rhymed story illustrated in full colour, entitled "ORIHUELA, MY TOWN", which presents some of its most emblematic landmarks. It is accompanied by a black-and-white activity book on which children can apply different techniques such as chopping, tearing, colouring… I hope you enjoy it and help you know our great city a little more.
